I really love having fresh flowers in my apartment, buttt 2.5 seconds later, they die. I tried the whole low-maintenance-impossible-to-kill-indoor-plant thing, other wise known as a Peace Lily, but even after misting the thing with a squirt bottle everyday, it died on me. Solution: succulents. Even better solution: succulents in glass. I picked up four of these tea candle holders at CB2 (broke two in the process, humph) and the rest of the supplies at a nursery in Silver Lake. All you need is charcoal, pebbles, moss, potting soil, and some precious little succulents. These miniature creatures in glass make my heart melt. (Click on the image to see more).
Over the Labor Day weekend, I went to a Burning-Man-esque festival in Joshua Tree called Shangri La. We camped, we drank, we looked at art, we watched bands perform, we drank some more, and we sweat like babies left in the car while their moms grocery shop. We had fun.
Sneak peak of the headboard I made with Marimekko fabric and a little sweat and tears. Cameo by Maybelline.
